Assistant Professor in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design (TMD)

Ciesielska-Wrobel earned her B.Sc, M.Sc., and Ph.D. in textile technology and textile manufacturing. During her bachelor’s and master’s studies, she focused on knitting, weaving, spinning, nonwoven technologies. Her Ph.D. dissertation concerned measuring the level of thermophysiological and ergonomic wear comfort in users of textiles. Before joining the URI, Izabela worked as a Research Scientist in textile product development at Luna Innovations Incorporated in Blacksburg, VA. She was a Principal Investigator of projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Department of Defense. Her current interests revolve around textile technologies, especially knitting, smart textiles, perception of textiles, conversion, and processing of ocean plastic wastes, technical and protective textiles, high-performance materials, metal-organic frameworks. She has published more than 50 referred papers and conference proceedings. She has over 50 published papers; 1 book, 1 book chapter, and 2 patents.
