About

Vision

A land-to-sea plastics COLAB to accelerate the implementation of long-term solutions to dramatically reduce plastics pollution.

Mission

A dynamic research network to convene, communicate, collaborate and accelerate ideas and strategies that inform society, guide public policy and reduce land-to-sea plastics pollutants.

About Plastics: Land to Sea

URI's land to sea institution-wide signature plastics research initiative aligns resources and academic strengths from humanities to sciences and from local to global partners. From climate impacts of plastic production, consumption and disposal to environmental justice implications around the globe, URI recognizes the complexity of this global issue and that no one organization is capable of solving this alone. URI research teams welcome non-profits, academic peers, corporate and government partners across the United States and overseas to participate in this Plastics: Land to Sea initiative. Through valuable connections, communications, collaborations and ideas, the initiative will advance new knowledge and understanding of the impact of plastics on human and environment health and ultimately reduce plastics pollution.

The Plastics: Land to Sea COLAB welcomes participation by faculty and students across all URI colleges to make clear, tangible projects within the five research thrust areas.
