Emily Diamond

Assistant Professor, Departments of Communication Studies and Marine Affairs

Diamond researches environmental communication, investigating how strategic communication can be used to influence environmental attitudes and behaviors. Her research focuses on how identities interact with communication strategies to determine attitudes and policy preferences on climate change and other issues. Recent projects include studies of how parental identities inform climate change attitudes, the role that rural identities play in determining environmental attitudes, and upcoming work on how coastal identities influence perceptions of environmental quality and conservation behaviors. Diamond holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Policy from Duke University.
