Joshua Abbott

Professor, Environmental and Resource Economics, School of Sustainability, Arizona State University

Abbott’s research focuses on natural resource management, combining theoretical models from bioeconomics with statistical and econometric techniques to help policymakers and stakeholders achieve more efficient, effective and sustainable policy outcomes. He works in a number of domains including recreational and commercial fisheries management, seafood trade, water economics, and the valuation of natural capital for improved metrics of ecosystem-based management and sustainable development. He has published a survey of policy approaches for addressing marine plastic pollution. Abbott is Editor in Chief of the journal Marine Resource Economics.
