Ludovic Hermabessiere

Research Associate, National Research Council of Canada

Ludovic Hermabessiere obtained his PhD in 2018 from the University of Littoral Côte d’Opale (France) where he worked on developing methods and assessed the prevalence of microplastics and their additives in seafood products intended for human consumption. Between 2019 and early 2023, Dr Hermabessiere was a post-doctoral fellow at the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Toronto (Canada) and he is now working at the Aquatic and Crop Resource Development Research Centre of the National Research Council of Canada. One of his work interests focused on developing methods for microplastic identification and quantification, with a specific interest on Py-GC/MS and also contributing to methods harmonization for microplastic research. Another research topic of Dr Hermabessiere is to understand what is the role of plastic additive in microplastic toxicity by doing both field and laboratory experiments.
